To Every Puerto Rican.
Wherever You Are.
This anniversary is not something that happens in Washington and is observed here. It is not something that happens in San Juan and is observed in Ponce, in Mayagüez, in Arecibo, in the seventy-five other municipalities that make this island whole. And it is not something that happens on the island and is watched from afar by the nearly six million Puerto Ricans who live on the mainland, people who left this island but never stopped being from it.
IF YOU LIVE ON THE ISLAND
Show up to your municipality's events.
The Liberty Bell Island Tour stops in all 78 municipalities. The educational competitions, the community service initiatives, the civic ceremonies are designed to reach every corner of this island, not just its capital. Your municipality has a role in this commemoration. Find it. Be there.
Volunteer.
The 250 Gift Project needs people. Beach cleanups, community surveys, educational initiatives, youth programs. The work of commemoration is not only ceremonial. Much of it is physical, practical, and done by people who decided to give their time because the moment deserved it. This is one of those moments.
Bring your students.
The educational competitions run by the Puerto Rico Department of Education in partnership with Puerto Rico America250 are an invitation to the next generation to understand where they come from and say so, in an essay, in a speech, in a painting, in a sculpture. If you are a teacher, a parent, a coach, or a community leader, get your students into this program. What they produce will outlast 2026.
Submit your event.
If your organization, your municipality, your community group, or your institution is planning an activity connected to the Semiquincentennial, submit it to the official calendar. This commemoration grows stronger every time another Puerto Rican community adds its voice to it.
Partner with us.
Cultural organizations, civic institutions, businesses, universities, and nonprofits across the island are invited to partner with Puerto Rico America250. The program is built to expand. If you have something to contribute, a venue, a platform, a network, an idea, contact our team.
IF YOU ARE PART OF THE DIASPORA
You did not stop being Puerto Rican when you left. This anniversary does not stop being yours because you are watching it from New York, from Orlando, from Chicago, from wherever this island sent you or wherever you chose to go.
Come home in 2026.
Not because anyone is asking you to. Because the island will be marking something that will not happen again in your lifetime, and because the version of Puerto Rico that shows up for this anniversary, across all 78 municipalities, in full, is worth being present for. The gala concerts. The July 4th ceremonies at El Morro. The Governor's Cup. The Living Flag. Come for one. Come for all of it.
Carry the story.
The most powerful thing the diaspora can do for this commemoration is tell Puerto Rico's story accurately and fully to the communities where you live. Not the headline version. Not the disaster version. The real version, five centuries deep, built from the inside, proud without apology. You know this story. Tell it.
Connect your community.
Puerto Rican community organizations, cultural centers, and civic groups on the mainland are invited to register with Puerto Rico America250 and connect their local programming to the island's official Semiquincentennial calendar. This commemoration does not end at the coastline. It travels with the people who carry it.
FOR EVERYONE
Follow and share.
Stay informed about Puerto Rico America250 through our official channels. Share what you find. The more people who know what this island is doing in 2026 and why, the stronger this commemoration becomes.
Give the 250 Gift.
Whatever form it takes, a day of service, a conversation, a vote to submit an event, a decision to come home, the 250 Gift Project asks every Puerto Rican to give something back in the year the nation turns 250. The gift does not have to be large. It has to be real.
Puerto Rico has always answered when called. On July 4, 2026, we answer for ourselves
present, proud, and fully here.
